Antiforeigner Japan?

There is an interesting discussion going on J-Probe [Link] .

They also delve into the housing aspects, which got me even more interested in it.

I don’t have any expierience yet with housing in Japan since i didn’t make it that far yet, except the Hotels and stuff of course.

I always have heard that it is hard when you are a gaijin to get an apartment, be it Danny Choo or just the Gaijinpot forums who have enough of information regarding this topic.

Now i’m a bit… hmmm worried? Well not that much, just a bit actually.
As far i could tell when i went to a Ryokan or any other more “japanese” areas away from the gaijin-flow i never encountered real problems.

The people were always nice and polite.
Maybe the fact that Japan and Germany come along well with each other helps a bit on that but i’m not sure, i mean it’s not like it’s printed on my forehead “GERMAN”.

Looking from my own view on foreigners in germany as long as their german is okay i don’t mind them or have problems with them at all.

There are also lots of rental places which wont take foreigners in here and you can clearly see the areas were foreigners life because in the houses that “allow” them, they usually pile up around that area.

So viewing the big picture, i would say it’s all not that bad in Japan as some people like to paint it.
It just gets more attention since Japan is a rather small country with a small landmass and since that – the areas where you can actually life are rather small too.

Hope my drift is being catched now, anyhow – looking forward to when i will hit japanese grounds in a few years.

Two all-time-star clips from Azumanga which suit the topic nicely i think. ;)

I’m not really worried about that fact. Especially Tokyo is swarming with gaijins, and I have no problem with pronunciation of other languages.

also love those azumanga daioh scenes =D

but it show something I really hate about japanese people: most of them suck at english… thats not good =/
